Croatian Karate Union is host of European senior karate championship which will be held in Zagreb May 8th-10th 2009 placed in Dom sportova. Technical support is provided by the Zagreb Karate Union, City of Zagreb, Zagreb sport association and Croatian Olympic Committee.
This event brings over 45 countries, 800 contestants and more than 1000 staff members. That makes this event the biggest sport Championship at this areas.
All three Championship final evenings and opening ceremony is telecast by the Croatian Television and radio. Special DVD from this event will be selling in all of the participant countries of this Championship.
Karate is the most successful sport in Croatia regarding medals – our contestants brought 105 individual and 29 team medals. That results set Croatian National team among World top ten and European top five nations. Last year European championship golden medals in junior team competitions (both women and men category), golden medal in senior competition for Mirna Senjug and Danil Domdjoni, silver medal for kata team, bronze medal for Neven Martic, and World championship golden medal for Danil Domdjoni and bronze medal for Ema Anicic, recent European junior championship golden medals for Damira Bujan and Rene Pernus give good reasons to conclude Croatian National team will be one of the biggest medal favorites.
